Jump scare hallway scroller
Case StudyBad Robot came to us to develop an interactive experience to tease clips from the trailer for the upcoming release of Overlord.
We took high resolution 360 photography of the main castle vault and created a 3D hallway scene by using projection mapping. We then color-graded the image textures matched the look of the film. The hallway culminates at a small peephole which triggers the final gruesome clip after peering in.
A user navigates the hallway by scrolling the page; as they progress they are confronted with jump scare videos that pop and abruptly play a clip from the teaser trailer. We also used device motion on mobile to control the virtual camera and look around the scene. I executed the front-end build including custom distortion vfx and created all 3D assets.
