Playful video collage beat pad
Live Site Promo Post CliosRudy Mancuso came to us with a rough concept of creating some kind of interactive beat pad to promote his upcoming musical Musica. In response to this prompt we developed the idea of a hybrid video + audio sample recorder that feeds into an interactive beat pad.
After recording up to four samples, a user is presented with their own custom beat pad interface. As they play along with one of several pre-recorded backing tracks, a procedurally arranged 3D video collage which incorporates the previously sampled videos takes shape.
I contributed to the conceptual and creative development of this experience, as well as executed the front-end build of the video collage. I also developed systems for audio and video recording using native browser APIs. After recording the beat a video is rendered on-device and can be shared to social media.
